A couple months ago Camper English of Alcademics inspired us to try sparkling tequila. He sparkled up some tequila at Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans earlier this year. We've been waiting for the right moment to turn inspiration into practice. The cooler fall weather spurred us into action. We called our friends at Tequila Tromba and Playa Cabana and put the plan into action!
Sparkling tequila is easy. The after-effects ... maybe easy, maybe not. Fill the bottle to the rim with chilled tequila. Fill the flavor chamber with tequila. Place a carbonator in the carbonation chamber.
Press the button and watch as the tequila is sparkled.
Sparkling Tequila has fine, champagne-like bubbles. However, this is definitely tequila, not champagne. Premium Tequila Tromba in this case. If you enjoy sipping premium tequila, this is a fascinating derivative. Like sparkling wine is to wine. Sparkling enhances the tequila nose and flavors so be sure to use premium tequila.
For those that prefer mixed drinks - it's margarita time! At Playa Cabana Hacienda we sparkled up Dave's Classic Margarita. Super tasty! If you get to a Playa Cabana location, it's the drink of choice for good reason.
At home with your Bonne O try a Skinny Sparkling Margarita. Put a few ice cubes, a cup of chilled tequila, a half cup of chilled Cointreau and a half cup of lime juice in the bottle and then fill the bottle to the rim with cold water. Fill the flavor chamber with a light simple syrup (water and dissolved sugar) and place a carbonator in the carbonation chamber. Press the button, sparkle and enjoy!
